Taylorsville, Mississippi in Smith County is a lovely rural town nestled near the beautiful Leaf River and located south centrally within the state of Mississippi. Its a short drive to Magee or Laurel, and just over an hour to Jackson and the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
We are big on football, baseball, and basketball here, our Tartar teams boast many big wins and have brought home lots of Championship Trophies! We have a great Sportsplex with multiple baseball fields, available for tournaments and allstar play.
Taylorsville lies at the intersection of 3 State Highways: Highway 37, Highway 28, and Highway 531. We have a heavy traffic flow through our town daily, and we claim most all of the industry found in Smith County.
Taylorsville is a thriving business community, having many new businesses opened in the past few years. We have an active Chamber of Commerce, who along with the town hosts a yearly Grillin & Chillin BBQ Festival in early November. We have a large Industrial Park with plenty of space for new industries, and we have lots of sweet tea and southern hospitality!
In Taylorsville, you will find a turn of the century State Historic Landmark. The Taylorsville Signal Museum once produced a weekly newspaper, and was a local store as well. The old printing press is still standing in the museum, plus old newspapers and much of the merchandise that was present when the business was closed.
